1) In order to write a thesis, you can get help from your supervisor, faculty members, fellows, and some other resources in order to collect the data. On the other hand, a dissertation is an independent piece of writing and you will have to conduct an independent research in order to collect the data for your dissertation.

2) A thesis is a short piece of writing as compared to a dissertation. Therefore, there requires less time to complete a thesis. On the other hand, a dissertation is a long piece of writing and it requires more time to complete the dissertation. Its reason is that you will have to spend a lot of hours in researching, analyzing, and writing the data for the dissertation.

3) In a thesis, a student is required to provide a hypothesis on the basis of the research that he/she has conducted in order to write a thesis. On the other hand, a dissertation should be written with the help of critical thinking. Therefore, in order to write a dissertation, you should have enough knowledge about the new discoveries and theories related to your subject.

4) All the arguments that are provided either in the dissertation or thesis should be supported with the help of valid examples and evidences. You can provide the valid examples in the support of the thesis from the primary arguments. On the other hand, in order to support the arguments of the dissertation, you should try to provide the examples and evidences from the background work.

5) In the case of a thesis, you can get the results and findings with the help of the existing research. On the other hand, in the case of a dissertation, these findings and results should be obtained with the help of conducting an effective research.

6) A dissertation is often considered as an academic book due to its length and the best quality content. On the other hand, a thesis is considered as an academic research paper due to its shorter length.

7) The theory and arguments used in the dissertation are based upon the original research of the students. On the other hand, the content used in the thesis is based on the hypothesis of the students.

8) There is a big difference between the lengths of a dissertation and a thesis. A thesis should contain the 100 pages. On the other hand, a dissertation is much longer than the thesis and it should contain more than 100 pages.

This is the basic difference between a thesis and dissertation.
